YOUNTVILLE, Calif. — Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge following an incident in the heart of Napa Valley wine country on Friday afternoon.
According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, the 86-year-old was driving a brown convertible around 2:30 p.m. on July 4 when he struck an unoccupied, legally parked car on the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville. A witness reported seeing the convertible hit the vehicle, stop briefly, and then continue driving away.
Pelosi’s car sustained significant damage and eventually became disabled a short distance from the scene. Deputies located him and identified him as the driver. No one was injured in the crash, and authorities have ruled out alcohol as a factor. The case has been referred to the Napa County District Attorney for review, and officials also submitted a referral to the California DMV regarding his driving privileges due to his age.
This marks the second notable driving-related incident for Pelosi in Napa County. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to DUI charges after a crash that injured another driver.
Paul Pelosi has kept a relatively low public profile over the years while his wife built a long career in Congress. The couple has faced public scrutiny before, including the 2022 home invasion attack at their San Francisco residence.
